The Sworn Translation of Notarial Deeds is a fairly common procedure nowadays given the international nature of our societies and companies, since contracts and the establishment of companies are the most common documents in international legal affairs and the ones that most frequently require a Sworn Translation to be able to complete the internationalisation process of our companies.

Official Sworn Translation

A Sworn Translation can only be carried out by an Official Sworn Translator who is authorised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who will stamp the translation making it 100% valid throughout Spain.

Public Deeds and Notarial Acts

A Notarial Deed is a public document through which a Public Notary attests that before them a certain event took place, at a certain place and time, by one or several stakeholders whose identities and legal capacity have been accredited. A Public Deed is always required whenever there is a transfer of assets, for example: purchasing and selling of housing.

Notarial Acts record the mere facts, or legal acts. They are used for the verification of facts or the statements of the interested parties and they are not written in any Registry.

Do I need a Sworn Translation of a Notarial Deed?

You will need a Sworn Translation of your Notarial Deed if you require it for an official procedure in Spain and your Notarial Deed is written in any other language other than Spanish.

The same will apply if your Notarial Deed is written in Spanish and you need to present it in a non-Spanish speaking country.
